Beware the One Way Street to Atheism

I used to dig The Bearded One
with the infinite reputation
but I took Him down to Occam's once
and that ended the brief flirtation

I think I brooked the way He shook
when Occam left Him bare
but couldn't brook how I was took
by what there wasn't there

I did my best to toe the line
as He grew it back soon after
I just never really could rid my mind
of the sound of Occam's laughter
